Monday July 23rd

Well here it is the beginning of another week for me here in Canada.
Not to much new to report, I do have a job interview tomorrow with Safeway.
I spend most of my time helping out around the house by cleaning and doing some cooking I run misc errands for Shannon and drop off and pick her up from work. I'm getting a lot better at getting around town now. I helped Shannon do a garage sale on Saturday and she made $300.00 I took a bunch of soda cans to the recycle center and got $13.00.
I took Shannon to see the new Harry Potter movie for her birthday it was good but very long 2 1/2 hrs.

I use to complain about gas prices back home well out here in Canada it approx $4.44 a gallon!!! and a 6 piece chicken nugget meal at McDonald's is $7.50 yikes!!

The weather has been rather warm lately it's been at least 87 degrees for the past week.

I'll put a couple pictures of the money here at the bottom of the page so you can all see what it looks like.
Well that's all I can think of for now, I'll write again soon.

My nemesis the Magpie

OK so every morning there is this little bird who sits outside my bedroom window and squawks and squawks at the top of its lungs like there's no tomorrow!
I have never heard a bird or flock of birds that make so much noise it's worse than a peacock!

I think I'm gonna need to buy some ear plugs or get use to waking up at 5:00am

The Calgary Stampede

Well I finally went to the "famous Calgary Stampede" on Friday July 13th!
Umm yeah it's pretty much a glorified super sized western themed version of the San Diego County Fair(aka the Del Mar Fair).

It was 90 degrees while we were there but "at least it's a dry heat" as some lady kept saying....WHATEVER!! it was HOT! I probably lost 5 pounds from just all the walking and sweating.

The only part I really enjoyed or that wasn't something I've seen at the Del Mar Fair was the grandstand show. That is the nightly show they do and it's pretty much an hour & a half Broadway musical show with lasers, fire, motorcycle stunt men, and a massive fireworks finale.

The show had at least 100 dancers, singers, and performers. I'm telling you this show had it all!

OK new subject,

I'm still not working we are in the process of getting me a work permit it takes about 40 day to complete the process once I get that I'll be able to work here for a year. Doing this will help Shannon and I with getting me sponsored to be a resident by showing I'm establishing my self here and all. I'm still very confused on the whole immigration thing.....

that's all for now I'll write again real soon

My 1st week in Canada

Well here it is Sunday night around 9:00 I've officially been in Canada for a week. I'm still trying to get use to how things work here they don't use mph for speed they use kilometers, gas is by liters not gallons and costs $1.06 per liter and it's approx 4 liters per gallon and to think I complained about gas prices back in California!!
The money here is different too they don't have one dollar bills they have a little gold coin called a loonie they also have $2.00 dollar coins called toonies the actual bills start with the $5.00 dollar bill all the money is color coded a $5 is blue and $10 is purple a $20 is green a $50 is red and the $100 is brown.I don't have a job yet we are still waiting for all my sponsorship paper work to be processed but Shannon got a job at Safeway(Vons) so that's good that one of us will be making money.
I've been doing a lot of driving around town just to get use to things I'm really good at getting to the Wal-Mart and or Safeway from the house on my own as it's like a left turn and a straight half mile shot from the house :-)
We went to her cousins wedding yesterday but had to leave early as I've been feeling sick since around noon yesterday not sure what I got but I've become very familiar with the bathroom I lost 8 pounds!!! It wasn't until about 7:00 tonight I was able to hold down some chicken soup and saltines with out getting sick.
I'm going to the Calgary Stampede on Friday it's the BIG to do here in town this place goes crazy over it, it opened last Friday and they pretty much shut down the city for half the day for an opening day parade everywhere you go you see signs for the stampede and they all dress up in their western gear. You can get a free pancake and bacon breakfast almost any place for the next week as it's a Stampede Tradition its nuts!

Well that's all I can think of at the moment I miss everyone very much talk to and write you again soon

I'm in Canada

Well our road trip to Canada began on Saturday morning at 6:00am. We made our 1st stop in Ogden Utah for the night around 8:00pm. The scenery on the way to Utah was OK the best part was going through Arizona the mountain /big rocks were very cool, other than that just a lot of fields and cows EVERYWHERE!!!!. We left Ogden Utah Sunday morning about 6:15 am and finally got to our destination in Calgary around 9:00 pm. It's an hour time difference here.
We had to wait at the border check point for about an hour then we had to go in a speak to immigration about me being here that took like 20 minutes worth of question asking by the immigration officer before they let us go. Some of the things they asked were who was my car registered to, how much cash I had, have I ever been arrested, did I have any firearms or drugs, stuff like that. Odd questions but very intimidating. Today was spent doing laundry unpacking and various errands to get stuff we needed like hangers and bathroom supplies. I have to admit it's really odd not to be employed at the moment but I kinda like the break :-)
I have to admit that with being so busy packing and all that it didn't really hit me that I just made such a major move until last night when I was lying in bed kinda broke down.....
Anyways it's getting late so I better get going
I miss you all very much and I'll write again soon.
